Kalco Lighting had been involved with the design and manufacturing of light fixtures in the United States, Europe and Asia. Jack English has been lighting Hollywood movies for over 30 years (see IMDB.com). He has developed portable and battery-powered lights for various applications from hand carried lanterns carried by Jodie Foster in "Somersby" to lighting Meryl Streep in a white water raft middle of a raging river in Montana in "River Wild". Living out in the canyons of southern California he saw the need for lighting signs where electricity was not available and where wire would be unsafe or impractical. After talking to Chris Lyons about the needs of the real estate industry it was an easy leap into developing a sensible, easy to use, safe, economical Solar Sign Light. He didn't want a plastic toy but a die-cast aluminum device that would survive on the street. It had to have the newest in LED technology for the best light with the lowest power consumption.
